Frequently asked questions

Common questions about our work and process.

How much does a fitted wardrobe cost in Riga?

At THE ROOM STUDIO in Riga, a custom fitted (built-in) wardrobe starts from around €1,000. The final price depends on size, the materials you choose and the internal layout — shelves, drawers, rails and similar fittings. Because every wardrobe is made to measure for your room, we don't sell fixed packages. We offer free on-site measuring across Riga and all of Latvia, then prepare a written quote with no obligation, so you know the exact cost before deciding.

Is the consultation, measuring and quote really free?

Yes. At THE ROOM STUDIO, the initial consultation, on-site measuring and written quote are all free, anywhere in Riga and across Latvia, with no obligation to order. We come to your home, measure the space precisely and discuss how you'll use it, then prepare a detailed quote. You only commit once you approve the design and price. Note that installation itself is part of a paid project, not a free service — but quoting and measuring cost you nothing.

How long does a custom wardrobe take to make?

At THE ROOM STUDIO, a made-to-measure wardrobe or piece of furniture usually takes around 2–5 weeks from the moment you approve the design, depending on the size and complexity of the project. We confirm the exact lead time in your written quote before work begins. The same in-house team handles measuring, design, manufacturing and installation in Riga and across Latvia, so the timeline stays under our control from start to finish.

Do you offer a warranty on your furniture?

Yes. THE ROOM STUDIO provides a 5-year warranty on every project — fitted wardrobes, walk-in wardrobes, sliding doors, concrete surfaces, kitchens and wood furniture alike. We use durable materials and quality hardware chosen to last, and because one in-house team handles design, manufacturing and installation, we take full responsibility for the finished result. The warranty applies to work completed anywhere in Riga and across Latvia.

Do you install the furniture yourselves?

Yes. At THE ROOM STUDIO, installation is carried out by our own in-house team, not subcontractors — cleanly and precisely. One team handles the whole project from measuring and design through to manufacturing and final fitting, so you never need to coordinate separate tradespeople. We install across Riga and all of Latvia. Installation forms part of your overall project quote; the consultation, measuring and quote beforehand are free.

Which areas in Latvia do you serve?

THE ROOM STUDIO is based in Riga, at Zolitūdes iela 70A, and serves clients across the whole of Latvia. We come to you for free on-site measuring, then design, manufacture and install custom built-in furniture wherever you are in the country. The team works in Latvian, Russian and English, so international residents and expats can discuss their project comfortably. You can reach us on +371 27 780 077 or at info@theroomstudio.lv.

Can you make wardrobes for sloped ceilings and awkward spaces?

Yes — awkward, non-standard spaces are one of THE ROOM STUDIO's specialities. We regularly build fitted wardrobes for sloping attic and loft ceilings, deep alcoves, narrow nooks, irregular corners and compact flats, designing each unit around the exact contours of your room. Because everything is made to measure rather than bought off the shelf, there are no wasted gaps or empty corners. We measure, manufacture and install across Riga and all of Latvia.

What is the difference between a built-in (fitted) wardrobe and a walk-in wardrobe?

A built-in or fitted wardrobe is a single unit built into a wall recess, alcove or corner — it uses space efficiently and looks cleaner than a freestanding cupboard. A walk-in wardrobe is a separate room or partitioned area with shelving and rails around the perimeter that you step inside. THE ROOM STUDIO designs and makes both to measure in Riga and across Latvia, fitted to your exact space, storage needs and budget, with free on-site measuring beforehand.

How much space do you need for a walk-in wardrobe?

For a walk-in wardrobe with shelving on both sides and enough room to move comfortably, the practical minimum width is roughly 1.8–2 metres. For narrower spaces, THE ROOM STUDIO designs L-shaped or single-side layouts that still make full use of the room. The best layout always depends on the exact dimensions and door position, so we carry out free on-site measuring in Riga and across Latvia and recommend the most efficient arrangement for your space.

Can a fitted wardrobe be built into a room with sloped ceilings?

Yes. Rooms with sloped or attic ceilings are a core speciality at THE ROOM STUDIO. We design and manufacture fitted wardrobes that follow the exact contours of the room — sloping ceilings, alcoves, irregular corners and compact flats — so no space is wasted. One in-house team handles measuring, manufacturing and installation across Riga and Latvia. Fitted wardrobes start from around €1,000, with the final price depending on size and materials, confirmed in a free written quote.

Do you make custom concrete worktops for kitchens?

Yes. THE ROOM STUDIO makes concrete furniture and surfaces to order, including kitchen worktops, tables and shelving, across Riga and all of Latvia. Concrete is hard-wearing and has a distinctive, minimalist look, and we can combine it with wood or metal to suit your interior. Because price depends on the dimensions, shape and finish, we don't quote a fixed rate — instead we offer a free consultation and an individual quote tailored to your project.

What materials and types of wood do you use for custom furniture?

THE ROOM STUDIO works with MDF and plywood in a range of finishes, solid wood, metal, glass and concrete. We choose the combination to match your style, budget and how the piece will be used. For sliding wardrobe doors, panel options include glass, mirror, MDF, chipboard or PVC set in an aluminium profile frame. Our founders bring over 10 years of experience and 100-plus completed projects, many in Scandinavia and Norway, favouring natural wood and clean lines.

Why choose a custom fitted wardrobe instead of IKEA or other flat-pack furniture?

Flat-pack ranges like IKEA come in fixed sizes, so they rarely fit non-standard rooms and often leave gaps, empty corners or wasted height. A custom fitted wardrobe from THE ROOM STUDIO is made to measure for your exact space — floor to ceiling, around sloped ceilings and into alcoves — using durable materials and quality hardware. One in-house team handles measuring, design, manufacturing and installation across Latvia, and every project comes with a 5-year warranty.

Sliding wardrobe doors — mirror, frosted glass or coloured panels: which should I choose?

It depends on the room. Mirror doors make a space feel larger and brighter, so they suit smaller homes. Frosted glass diffuses light softly for a modern look while concealing what's inside. Coloured panels in lacquered MDF or laminate let the wardrobe blend into your colour scheme. All THE ROOM STUDIO sliding doors use a sturdy aluminium profile frame, with panel infill in glass, mirror, MDF, chipboard or PVC. During a free consultation in Riga or across Latvia, we'll recommend the best option for your lighting and interior.
