An octagonal tray that turns, so the food goes round the table instead of being passed from hand to hand. It is made of alder, with the grain and the colour of the wood left showing.
Elegant design: the octagonal shape means it looks good on the table even when there is nothing on it.
For serving: snacks, cheese, fruit, pizza or dessert, at a party or over a family supper.
Practical organisation: spices, sauces and kitchen utensils stay together and within reach.
Diameter: 40 cm
Material: oiled alder
Wood is a natural material, so no two trays are quite the same. Differences in grain and colour, and a surface that is not perfectly even, are part of the wood and not a fault.
Caring for your wooden tray
Day to day
Washing. By hand only, in warm water with a mild washing-up liquid. Do not use harsh degreasers.
Drying. Wipe it dry straight after washing and stand it upright to finish drying, so that air reaches both sides.
Getting rid of smells. If the tray has picked up a smell, rub it with half a lemon and coarse salt, then rinse it off.
What not to do
Never put it in the dishwasher. Never leave it soaking, and never leave damp things standing on it.
Oiling and restoring
Feeding the wood. When the tray starts to look dry, treat it with linseed oil. Warm the oil slightly, work it into clean, dry wood, let it soak in, then wipe off the excess.
Restoring the surface. Scratches or stains from food are a natural part of using a tray. Sand it lightly with fine sandpaper, oil it again, and it will be as good as new.
Do not use olive oil or other cooking oils — they go rancid over time and start to smell.
